Tips for Hosting a Sock Hop Dance This Summer

Thursday, March 11th, 2010

If you are looking for a way to have some good, clean fun this summer look no further. A sock hop provides this opportunity! Sock hops provide wonderful ways for people to get together and mingle with one another. It can also work well as a fundraiser or community event.

Do not get stressed about hosting the sock hop. Use a committee to help you plan the details. A party planning committee will really help make sure all the important areas are taken care of.

These areas should include sock hop decorations, venues, games and entertainment, food, and publicity. Ask people to work on specific parts of the sock hop dance to make sure everything is covered and taken care of. You can also have someone in charge of invitations and keeping track of guests who will be coming.

Not every Red Hat event needs the involvement of the entire Red Hat Chapter. One woman, Delores Barton, from Kawaiisu, Indonesia went on a Cruise and kept her Red Hat sisters involved by sending them updates and pictures of her cruise. She cruised around the globe, and thanks to the Red Hat discussion boards they were able to be a part of her fun adventure with her.

A chapter in St. Louis, Missouri decided to have a luncheon at the St. Louis Science Center. The Red Hat Mini-Makers really enjoyed learning new things with the science exhibits there. They especially enjoyed the newest exhibit “Sue, the T.Rex”.

Ways to Contact the Press for Your Next Red Hat Event

Friday, January 29th, 2010

Start your goal of press coverage for your Red Hat Society
event by compiling a list of media companies you would like to invite. This will help you check off which companies you have contacted. Write down their names, addresses, phone numbers, and other contact information.

Then send the media companies, and their editors, an invitation to join you at your event. Send out the invitations at least two weeks before the event. This will help keep your event looking credible, and is a nice gesture of goodwill.
